Pearl Harbor Part 1
Description
This film depicts Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, in the spring of 1942, following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The Tennessee-class battleship the USS California (BB-44), which was sunk during the attack, is shown as it was towed to drydock by a small harbor tugboat, and men are seen as they pumped water from the side of the battleship. Buildings surrounded by palm trees are shown in downtown Honolulu, Hawaii, and construction workers are seen in front of the Governor of Hawaii's residence. A statue of King Kamehameha is visible in the background, sentries are shown standing guard at a gate, and a sedan is seen as it moved slowly through a gate towards the residence. The USS California is then shown again as water was pumped over its side and personnel worked on the deck, cage, and mast of the battleship.
