Pearl Harbor Part 2
Description
This film depicts scenes near Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, in the spring of 1942, following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Crewmen are shown as they worked on the fantail and hull of the previously-sunken Colorado-class battleship the USS West Virginia (BB-48) while it sat in drydock, and several water pumps are shown in operation while the USS West Virginia was salvaged. A photographer is seen as he took pictures of the damaged USS West Virginia with a Speed Graphic camera, and a crane is shown as it lifted a section of shoring from the side of the ship. Schoolchildren and teachers carrying gas masks around their waists are seen as they disappeared into trenches during air raid drills, a Japanese storekeeper is shown as he used a brush to paint over lettering on the front of his shop, and the damaged Tennessee-class battleship the USS California (BB-44) is seen as it sat in a sunken position in the harbor and then later in drydock during its refurbishment.
