Woodsy Owl Public Service Announcement Collection Part 1

Description

This film consists of six television spots featuring Woodsy Owl. The first shows Woodsy Owl on stage with other birds that are polluting in different ways. Woodsy sings a song about pollution and tells viewers, "Never be a dirty bird." The second shows Woodsy and several children as they cleaned up pollution and graffiti in the forest and city. Images are shown of people riding bicycles instead of driving cars and of Woodsy picking up litter and putting it into a trash can. A song in the background introduces Woodsy Owl as Smokey Bear's friend, the "anti-pollution owl". The third shows a costumed Woodsy Owl as he ran along with a group of children on bicycles singing about "an ugly word: pollution". Some of the children pointed out that graffiti and loud music are also kinds of pollution. Concluding their song, Woodsy and the children sing, "In the city or in the woods, help keep America looking good." The fourth shows a costumed Woodsy and five children as they cleaned up trash at a heavily littered school yard. The fifth spot shows Woodsy Owl with a group of children discussing how acts of vandalism include damaging trees, breaking windows, carving on picnic tables, painting on rocks, and wrecking street signs. The final spot shows a family as they planted a small tree in their front yard. A costumed Woodsy Owl explains that trees help fight air, noise, and sight pollution. The family, Woodsy, and other children sing a song, first in a field, and then around a campfire. The words “Give a hoot! Don't pollute” appear on the screen at the end of each spot.
