Slightly clumsy papas learn to bathe the baby and get the safety-pin in the right place. 5. WILD DUCKS STYMIE GOLFERS: PORTLAND, OR - (Exclusive) Thousands of migratory birds camp on a golf course, upsetting the sporting routine, but giving the Biological Survey a chance to band the ducks in a new drive to study their habits. 6A/B/C/D/E. The awards are made as a feature of the 14th anniversary of the Air Force. / BRITISH SPEED WAR TRANSPORT: ROYAL ENGINEERS devise a queer, new method of “ferrying” army trucks over streams and ditches. They stretch steel cables and run the trucks over ravines and rough country. / RUSSIANS STUDY SNOW TACTICS: RUSSIA - The Red Army artillery dons white suits and camouflages its instruments with white for a series of realistic maneuvers in terrain covered with snow. 7A/B/C. 20,000 HOMELESS IN FLOODS: MONTGOMERY, AL - Sixteen are known dead, and thousands routed from their homes as rising waters and a cold wave bring misery to a widespread area in Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi. / BLIZZARD SWEEPS HALF NATION: HEAVY SNOWS breaks into vernal reveries from Oklahoma to Chicago and New York.
