Admiral Leahy presents diplomas and Louis H. Roddis is the honor student! 2A. CUBA OPENS DOOR TO REFUGEES: HAVANA, CUBA - 917 Homeless Jewish refugees from Germany, aboard the S.S. St. Louis, at first denied permission to land on the island republic, sail away in despair. Later President Bru gives them permission for a temporary stay. 2B. 70,000 FASCIST WOMEN PARADE: ROME, ITALY - Thousands of women marchers, in military uniforms and costumes, parade down the "Street of Empire" and swear allegiance to Mussolini at the jammed Piazza Venezia. 2C. KING VISITS DISABLED VETERANS: EDMONTON, ALBERTA - King George and Queen Elizabeth receive a royal welcome from ex-service men as they stop during their tour at University Hospital. A great day for their Majesties—and for the disabled War heroes! 2D. IRON LUNG YOUTH VISITS SHRINE: LOURDES, FRANCE - Fred Suite, Jr., plucky infantile paralysis victim, arrives in his famous mechanical respirator to renew his faith and physical strength at the famous shrine. He also attends mass. 2E. AREA CLEARED FOR COULEE DAM: GRAND COULEE DAM, WA - Tragic but spectacular scenes as 2,400 workers start clearing away entire towns, farms and forests to make room for the rising waters behind the dam! Everything must go! 2F. 57 INJURED IN SCHOOL BLAST: BARBERTON, OH - Spectacular wreckage scenes follow in the wake of a gas explosion that shattered a small schoolhouse, injuring 4 teachers and 53 youngsters, three critically. A score of pupils or more slid to safety on the tilted floors. 3A. GIANT AIRLINER ARRIVES IN EAST: NEW YORK, NY - Thrilling scenes as the 42-passenger, 4-motored DC-4, last word in commercial flying, flies over Manhattan. It starts regular Coast to Coast hops soon! 3B. GLIDER INJURES 7 AT AIR MEET: SAINT GERMAIN, FRANCE - Crack stunt fliers display their skill in a show that thrills thousands. Tragedy mars the meet, when a glider "cracks up" and injures several spectators! 3C. THRILLING AIR SHOW STAGED: BIRMINGHAM, AL - Daring stunt flying by aerial aces, spectacular formation flights by Navy craft, and a 1910 type plane that actually flies, feature a gigantic free show. INDIANS IN "SUICIDE" RACE: KELLER, WA - Thrilling scenes as dare-devil Indian horsemen defy death in a spectacular dash from the top of a high mountain through dusty trails far below. One rider is nearly killed in the breakneck descent! 4B. DANISH GYM TEAM SHOWS SKILL: NEW YORK, NY - The famous Niels Bukh School of Gymnastics, from Denmark, shows its form, individual and collective, aboard the S.S. New York as it brings them to the N.Y. World's Fair. 4C. U.S. POLO "4" DEFEATS BRITISH: WESTBURY, NY - In a hard, bruising battle on soggy turf, the American foursome triumphs over Britain's crack team in the 1st game of the International Polo Cup series, winning handily by a score of 11-7.
