Roosevelt, inspecting troops and planes of the First Army, engaged in spectacular maneuvers along the Canadian border, is host to Prime Minister King of Canada, with whom he arrived at an agreement for a joint U.S.-Canadian Defense Board. 2B. PARACHUTE PLANE TRIED OUT: AUGUSTA, ME - An amazing "safety" device for planes—a 52-foot parachute invented by Jimmie Goodwin of Kentucky. OUTSIDER WINS GOLD CUP RACE: NORTHPORT, NY - Hotsy Totsy III, a rank outsider recently bought for only $1,000, wins two of three heats in the famous speedboat regatta to clinch the coveted trophy. Sydney Allen, novice driver and owner, amazes 100,000 spectators, and himself, too! (LOCAL – COLORADO) WILLKIE ENDS VACATION. (LOCAL – CANADA) NEWSPAPER MEN VISIT CANADA.
