Description
The original release sheet reads: 1. FRENCH NAVY SCUTTLED: At Toulon, major units of the once proud French navy are scuttled, rather than permitted to become Hitler's property. The billowing clouds of smoke, and the twisted steel, bring memories of Pearl Harbor—though this time, it's a defeat for the Axis. 2. AMG IN SICILY: America's Military Governing unit is seen operating, with Sicilians eagerly standing in line to get bread and ration books. 3. MEN OF THE HOUR: General MacArthur greets five touring U.S. Senators at Point Moresby, New Guinea. A great deal of importance attaches to this meeting.—General Giraud arrives at Rabat, then he visits Casablanca and strides the decks of the Jean Bart.—General de Gaulle visits units of the French Expeditionary Force at Bedeau. He reviews the "Garde Marocaine" and in turn is honored by them.—General Spaatz, Commander of the Northwest African Air Force, presents D.F.C.'s to four members of the R.A.F. Colorful Spahis, native cavalry, brighten the occasion. 4. BOND CAVALCADE ENDS: Hollywood stars complete their continental bond tour in San Francisco. Their patriotism served them well, for they seem fresher than when they began. 5. MRS. F.D.R. ABLE JOKESMITH: Eleanor Roosevelt convulses audiences as she relates a whopper involving the Japs and her husband. 6. JACK BENNY TROUPE RETURNS: Just in from their Near East and Mediterranean junket, Jack Benny and members of his party, relate some experiences. 7A. WASHINGTON 11 - 0 OPPONENTS: Uni. of Washington "Huskies," loaded with material, have no conference opponents, due to cancellations—so they while away the time awaiting a possible Rose Bowl bid. 7B. DARTMOUTH 3 - HOLY CROSS 0: (Exclusive) Two of New England's power house elevens claw each other in a nip and tuck gridiron classic. (LOCAL – NEW YORK) CONFUCIUS SAY "BUY BONDS."
