Description
The original release sheet reads: 1. "QUEEN" LANDS 15,000 G.I.'S: N.Y.C. - The Queen Elizabeth brings 15,000 Yankees home, most of them members of the famous U.S. 8th Air Force. 2. OKINAWA FINALE: With General Joe Stilwell succeeding to the command of the U.S. 10th Army, after Commanding General Simon Bolivar Buckner had been killed in combat, the Yanks surge forward through mud and ooze to complete victory. Artillery, flame throwers, automatic rifles, grenades and demolition charges are used to exterminate the Japs. Collaborationists who thrived on captured Yank supplies are weeded out from the native population, while the innocent children are properly clothed and fed. 3. BOMBING THE PALAUS: B-24's in a high-altitude, daylight raid destroy 86% of the target area despite the heavy enemy flak which severs the wing of one of the huge planes, sending it into a spectacular death dive. 4. 11 TON BOMB: The Volcanic "Grand Slam," Britain's latest secret weapon, is demonstrated. Soon, the Japs will feel the full destructive force of these bombs, which are the largest in the world. 5. NEW CABINET ADDITIONS: WASHINGTON, D.C. - Attorney General Thomas Clark, Postmaster General Robert Hannegan, secretary of Labor Lewis Schwellenbach and Secretary of Agriculture Clinton Anderson are sworn into office as members of President Truman's official family. 6.
