Description
The original release sheet reads: 1. THE WAR'S END IN PRAGUE: With V-E Day being celebrated in London and Paris, the Nazis in Prague offer to surrender to the Americans but not to the Soviets. The citizens of Prague break into open revolt for six days. Over 2,000 combatants are killed and 30 Nazi tanks are knocked out. The Red Army fights into Prague, hostilities cease, and Dr. Benes triumphantly returns to the Czechoslovakian capital after seven years. 2. FLAMES SAVED BRITAIN: Underwater pipelines and strategically planted petroleum casks threatened Nazi invasion troops, ships and planes so effectively that Britain was saved from invasion after Dunkirk. 3. LA GUARDIA READS THE COMICS: As the newspaper delivery strike continues into its second week, the weekly broadcasts of New York's Mayor, Fiorella La Guardia, take on added interest for all New Yorkers. And lest the kiddies miss their favorites Sunday comics, the Mayor dramatically reads them over the air—as they were never read before. (LOCAL – ATLANTA) PRESIDENT TRUMAN DAY. (LOCAL – CANADA) CARDINAL HONORS PIONEERS. (LOCAL – CANADA) RUNNEYMADE OARSMEN. (LOCAL – CANADA) OWENSVILLE CELEBRATES TRUMAN DAY.
