SPUR WHEAT FOR FAMINE AREAS: CLIMAX, MN - Highlighting his appeal to the farmers of America to sell their wheat for immediate shipment to starving nations abroad, Director General LaGuardia of UNRRA visits Climax and views wheat shipments. / SPRING PLANTING IN GERMANY: BAMBERG, GERMANY - Faced with growing shortages of food and limited to the occupation diet, farmers everywhere dig in to eke a livelihood and extra rations from the soil. It’s a job for old and young alike. 3. PRESIDENT TAKES A VACATION: Aboard Presidential Yacht “Williamsburg” - Pres. Truman relaxes after arduous days at the White House, and finds time to mix business with pleasure when Gen. Eisenhower comes aboard for a parley with the “Chief.” 4. A JAPANESE TEA PARTY: MIANOSHITA, JAPAN - At the Fuijya Hotel, now a recreation center for Yankee soldiers, Mrs. MacArthur entertains Gen. Eichelberger at a quaint tea party, at which the style is bare feet and sitting on the floor to sip your tea. 5. FLYING WING BOMBER SHOWN: HAWTHORNE, CA - The Army’s huge new aerial dreadnaught, the Northrup XB-35 “Flying Wing,” is shown for the first time on the eve of its test flights. The huge craft is larger than the Superfortress. A test model is shown in actual flight. 6. PENN RELAY THRILLS: PHILADELPHIA, PA - Speed dashes, weight-throwing, shuttle-relays and other highlights of the Penn Relay Carnival are seen in these colorful pictures of an annual Spring thriller.
