Description

The original release sheet reads: 1. FOIL ALCATRAZ JAILBREAK: SAN FRANCISCO, CA - Desperate convicts, attempting to escape from “The Rock,” kill two guards and inure others before police and naval forces storm the cell where the desperadoes are trapped and force their surrender. The ring-leaders are dead when the smoke of battle clears. 2. “TICKING” BOMB EXPLODED: LONDON, ENGLAND - Bomb-disposal engineers have a ticklish job as they get an unexploded Nazi bomb ready for “disposal”—the loud way. They blow it up, only a few hundred yards away from Buckingham Palace. 3. IT’S APPLE BLOSSOM TIME: WENATCHEE, WA - It’s news here when the annual festival gets underway, with pretty blossom queens and float parades giving the bumper crop a gala send-off. This year, planes are used to help spread the life-giving pollen. 4. LOUIS & CONN SIGN FOR BOUT: NEW YORK, NY - Joe Louis, world’s champ, and Bill Conn, scrappy young contender who gave Joe a good run for his money last time, are weighed in for their coming bout at the Yankee Stadium. 5. CO-ED LIFEGUARDS SHOW FORM: CAMBRIDGE, MA - Smith College life guards, twenty-four strong (and shapely lassies), demonstrate the latest in water ballet at the M.I.T. pool. Their technique, as well as their form, is perfect. 6. THE KENTUCKY DERBY / “Assault” Wins At Churchill Downs: LOUISVILLE, KY - In history’s biggest and richest Kentucky Derby, Assault, an 8 to 1 shot, romps home by a good eight lengths to win the $96,400 purse. Spy Song finishes second, which the favored Main Chance Farm entries do not finish in the money. (LOCAL – CANADA) UNRRA GRAIN SHIPPED BY CANADA.
