SPECTACULAR TRAIN WRECK: KANSAS CITY, MO - Flames fed by a gas and oil from tank cars turn the wreck of a 76-car freight into a raging inferno that burns fiercely for many hours. Spectacular night blaze is seen for miles around. 3. JET PLANE TOPS 600 M.P.H.: MUROC ARMY BASE, CA - An XP-84 "Thunderjet," latest jet-propelled fighter plane, sets a new U.S. record of 619 miles per hour during thrilling speed runs. Unofficially, the mark set was higher than world's record. 4.
