Duke and Duchess Arrive (Universal Newsreel, Nov 1946)
Description
The original release sheet reads: 1. AIRBORNE AUTOMOBILE: DANBURY, CT - Robert Fulton, descendant of the steamboat inventor, hooks wings and fuselage onto a small coupe and takes off from the airport here. The roadable plane passes tests with flying colors. 2. V-2 ROCKET BOOMERANGS: NEW MEXICO - During Army tests with special long-range rockets at the White Sands Proving Grounds, one huge missile gets off the course shortly after take-off and explodes with a roar. 3. BRITISH EMBASSY BOMBED: ROME, ITALY - Scenes reminiscent of a wartime air-raid follow in wake of terrorist blast that left gaping hole in front of the British Embassy. Saboteurs who dynamited the building left no trace. 4. DUKE AND DUCHESS ARRIVE: NEW YORK - Among the many hundreds disembarking when the luxury liner Queen Elizabeth arrives are the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, who smile happily for cameramen who greet them. 5. GRID GIANTS CLASH / ARMY AND NOTRE DAME IN SCORELESS TIE: NEW YORK - Highlights of the football thriller of the year. Cadets versus Fighting Irish before 75,500 fans at Yankee Stadium. And it's a great struggle between evenly-matched teams. Army stops Notre Dame on the 4-yard-line, and then the Irish check Blanchard and Davis with superb line play. Lujack and Tucker are quarterback heroes! (LOCAL – CANADA) MONEY TO BURN.
