Description

The original release sheet reads: 1. NEW HELICOPTER SHOWN: PHILADELPHIA - A new, low-priced, two-place helicopter, designed for passenger or cargo work, takes off for test flights. The craft hovers, or speeds along, with uncanny ability. 2. TEST ALL-METAL GLIDER: TRENTON - A new assault-cargo glider, capable of carrying thirty-five men, tries its wings. The sturdy craft has tricycle landing gear, as well as other war-tested safety improvements. 3A/B/C/D/E. GERMAN SCHOOL CRISIS: GERMANY - Getting into college is one hurdle. There are others: helping rebuild the dorms and classrooms for one. And there's a housing problem, too. / COLLIER TROPHY AWARDED: WASHINGTON - Pres. Truman presents the Collier Trophy for air safety to Lewis Rodert, aeronautics engineer, for his work in developing a heat method of protecting airplanes from ice. / FRENCH CURIOS GET LAUGH: FRANCE - The French call them "curiosities," everything from a trick click gun to an umbrella cigarette lighter. They're shown in an amusing round-up of holiday gifts. / DUTCH WOMAN MARKS 106th: HOLLAND - Meet Opoe Herfst, 106 years young. The amazing Dutch lady celebrates another milestone in her life, surrounded by many generations of her large family. / NEW WHITE HOUSE PET: WASHINGTON - There's a new feller in the White House, name of "Feller." The 5-weeks-old cocker puppy meets the newsreel cameramen upon his arrival from Missouri, gift of an old friend of Pres. Truman. 4A/B. THE WORLD OF SPORTS — PRO BASKETBALL THRILLER: NEW YORK - In their first afternoon game, the N.Y. Knickerbockers draw an impressive crowd to Madison Square Garden, and chalk up a decisive triumph (70-59) over the Boston Celtics. / FISTS FLY IN HOCKEY TILT: NEW YORK - Here's real excitement on ice! Tempers flare during the game between the Providence Scarlets and the N.Y. Metropolitans. Then the fists fly, and even the referee gets into the act.
