Description

The original release sheet reads: 1. TRUMAN LEAVES RIO AFTER GALA PARADE: RIO DE JANEIRO - Pres. Truman takes part in stirring Independence Day ceremonies and reviews a monster parade of Brazil's armed might, before leaving for home on the Big MO. Mrs. Truman wins new friends as the American "good neighbor." 2. FREEDOM TRAIN ROLLS: ALEXANDRIA, VA - The Freedom Train, a streamliner carrying 98 priceless historical documents, including the Bill of Rights, begins its U.S. tour. All Americans can see the Freedom Train and its trainload of democracy. 3A/B/C. 14 DEAD IN SHIP BLAST: PITTSBURGH - Twisted wreckage, tomb for 14 and possibly seven more, is all that remains of the Island Queen, famed Ohio River excursion boat, swept by flames following an explosion at her pier. / OBELISK CROSS REPLACED: ROME, ITALY - Replacing the cross on top of the ancient "Lateranense" obelisk at St. Johns (knocked off by the wind) is a perilous and spectacular operation. Skilled steeple-jacks make the dangerous climb. / P.O.W's HOME FROM SOVIET: GERMANY - Hungry and ill-clothed, some of them crippled, former Nazi "supermen" come home from Russian prison camps. At the border they are fed and clothed, and then they go home—if they have a home. 4A/B. THE WORLD OF SPORTS — SCOTTISH GAMES HELD: SCOTLAND - The bag-pipers set the stage for the "Cowal Games," with the royal family on hand to see the kilted lads and lassies participate in highland contests and feats of skill. / AQUAPLANE MARATHON: HERMOSA BEACH - Fighting rough water all the way from Catalina Island, Price Sloan skips across the finish line ahead of a field of thirteen. Sloan's time for the 44 miles—one hour and a half. Several rough spills occur enroute. (LOCAL – CANADA) RON FLEET REGATTA.
