Vandenberg, James F. Byrnes and others, receives honorary degrees during commencement exercises at Columbia University, where almost 8,000 are graduated. Gen. Eisenhower attends. / 1ST "MARSHALL" AID ARRIVES: GREECE and ITALY - First ERP shipments under the Marshall Plan arrive in Greek and Italian ports. American officials join with local notables in welcoming the ships, which bring wheat and other needed supplies. / BUMPER PINEAPPLE HARVEST: PUERTO RICO - It's harvest time on Puerto Rican pineapple plantations. Workers harvest a bumper crop, one of the world's richest. Uncle Sam's "Little Cousin" is raising a million crates of the fruit this year. / GERMAN BOXERS IN SLUGFEST: BERLIN - At Berlin's Olympic stadium, 50,000 boxing fans see the clash between the champ, Heinten Hoff, and his challenger, Arno Kolbin.
