The original release sheet reads: 1. MINE DISASTER: W. FRANKFORT, IL - 119 coal miners lose their lives in one of the worst mine disasters of recent history. Only one man is brought out alive, and officials comb the area in an investigation aimed to prevent future catastrophes like it. 2. THE WAR IN KOREA: KOREA - Spectacular battle scenes along the fighting front in Korea. With the truce talks bogged down, South Korean forces go into action following a mortar barrage. Scores of prisoners are taken.—Meanwhile, Cardinal Spellman, on a visit to the front, cheers wounded soldiers at a base hospital. 3A/B/C. BLIZZARD HITS MIDWEST: CHICAGO - An 8-inch snowfall, coming on top of a two feet of snow already fallen, cripples the Midwest and ties up Chicago for many hours. Hundreds are marooned at the height of the terrible winter storm. / CHURCHILL VISITS PARIS: FRANCE - Britain's dynamic Prime Minister makes an important visit to Paris to confer with French officials, and also to talk with General Eisenhower, about Britain's role in European defense plans. / SHIP BURNS OFF COAST: ASTORIA, OR - 11 sailors are missing in the blazing hulk of the Danish freighter, Erria, which ran aground following a fire off the Oregon coast. Fire fighters and rescue teams join forces. 4A/B. THE WORLD OF SPORTS — FRENCH SKI ACES: FRANCE - High in the scenic French Alps, a group of France's top skiers get away for a spine-tingling dash down the snowy slopes. Slalom, jumping and speedy downhill races enliven the day's events. / PRO FOOTBALL CHAMPS: LOS ANGELES - The L.A. Rams finally make it, finally taking the pro football title away from the Cleveland Browns. A long pass from Van Brocklin to Fears wraps it up for the new pro champs.
