A bustle of activity bedecks the streets with banners and buntings, signs and slogans. 2A/B/C/D/E. AIR TRAGEDY: WASHINGTON - One of the most touching of recent air crashes turns a holiday for servicemen and their families into tragedy. Thirty-seven aboard perish when the transport plows into a hill-side. / MAMIE AT THE WHITE HOUSE: WASHINGTON, D.C. - "Mamie" Eisenhower, America's future first lady, is given a pre-view of her new home by the outgoing occupant, Bess Truman. Wilson and Robert Lovett confer on Pentagon affairs, following Wilson's unprecedentedly early appointment, in a move by Ike to smooth the transition between administrations. / OPERATION RAWIN: NEW JERSEY - The Signal Corps unveils "Rawin"—a new tool of meteorological warfare—a mobile device giving quicker and more accurate reports of wind direction and velocity—with atomic implications. 3.
