The original release sheet reads: 1. NAVAL DISASTER - One hundred and seventy-five men are lost when the aircraft carrier Wasp plows into the destroyer Hobson during maneuvers in mid-Atlantic. Only sixty-one are saved and transferred to the Wasp which returns to the United States with a seventy-five-foot hole in her bow. 2. MAY DAY RIOTS - Communists observe their traditional day with demonstrations over the world. In Berlin only alert police action prevents violence. In New York the left-wing parade is greeted with jeers, but in Tokyo a well-organized riot develops into a pitched battle with police, with American cars and other property being destroyed by the demonstrators. 3. CRIPPLED KIDS BENEFIT: ALAMEDA, CA - Returning from the Pacific, the aircraft carrier Antietam presents little Marcia Owens with $15,000. The polio victim then turns over the check to Shrine fund for crippled youngsters. 4. HILL GAIL WINS DERBY: CHURCHILL DOWNS, KY - Hill Gail, heavy favorite comes through in the 78th running of the Kentucky Derby and gives jockey Arcaro his fifth win in the classic.
