Description
The original release sheet reads: 1. YANKS DO IT AGAIN: NEW YORK - The sixth game of the Golden Jubilee World Series sees the champion New York Yankees win their fifth straight title in a row. In a game that left fans limp, they come through in the last half of the ninth to break a tie score and beat the Brooklyn Dodgers 4 to 3. Highlights of the last five games show why the series was a thriller to end them all. 2A/B. BERLIN MAYOR BURIED: BERLIN - Dr. Ernst Reuter, once an intimate of Stalin and Lenin, but later Mayor of West Berlin and one of Communism's most determined foes is buried with pomp and splendor following his sudden death. It was largely his leadership that made Berliners resist the Red blockade when the city was supplied by Allied airlift. / KOREA ACES PERFORM: ARIZONA - Four aces from the Korean front in their Thunderjets show the type of precision formation flying that made them a terror to MIG's. A thrilling exhibition of American airmanship. 3A/B. FOOTBALL — GEORGIA TECH-SMU - The Engineers of Georgia Tech squeak through a narrow 6 to 4 victory as they play host to the Mustangs. Only a last-ditch goal line stand keeps them in the winning column. / NORTHWESTERN-ARMY - In ninety degrees of heat at Evanston, Illinois, the Northwestern Wildcats, after letting Army take an early lead, take to their air and rout the Cadets 33 to 20, with Dick Thomas completing 18 out of 21 passes.
