Description

The original release sheet reads: 1. GLOBAL JET BOMBER GOES INTO SERVICE: SEATTLE - The first B-52 Stratofortress comes off the production line as thousands of the workers who helped build the giant craft look on. It's destined to become the Air Force's first line atom bomb carrier, with its rumored jet plane speed and enormous range. 2A/B/C/D/E. FRENCH GENERAL MEETS PRESIDENT: WASHINGTON, D.C. - President Eisenhower and Admiral Radford, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, confer with French General Paul Ely to review the serious situation in Indo-China. / 18 DIE IN AIR EXPLOSION: MARYLAND - Scattered debris is mute testimony to the mid-air explosion of a Flying Boxcar in which all aboard–18 crewmen and passengers– died as the plane crashed before they could parachute to safety. / MARINE RAILWAY: SEATTLE - The Army goes amphibious again with a new portable Marine Railway. Riding on 9½ foot tires, it's designed to beach any craft up to seventy-five tons in weight, operating on any type of bottom. / WEDDING ON SKIS: CALIFORNIA - Nuptial novelty in the High Sierras. A wedding on skis a mile and a half above sea level. Minister and happy couple defy freezing winds to tie the marital knot, but when the ceremony ends, its "schuss" down the mountainside, honeymoon bound. / TEENAGE TRAFFIC TOURNEY: CALIFORNIA - The country's first Safety-Economy Driving Competition sees 250 teenagers competing over a supervised course. Fuel economy and close observance of traffic rules, not speed, determine the winner. 3. FRENCH BATHING SUITS: PARIS - That oo-la-la look is given to milady's bathing suits for the coming season. You see just how they are draped by the designers. Oo-la-la. 4A/B. BOWLING CONGRESS OPENS: SEATTLE - 45 days of bowling get under way. It's the 51st American Bowling Congress Tournament, with nearly sixteen thousand keglers competing for fame and glory in the biggest event of the world's most popular sport. / STOCK CAR RACES: ATLANTA - Stock cars tear round a hundred-mile course and they scorch the dirt track at a near suicidal pace. No fatalities, but there's one serious injury–and two others walk away from crashes that might have been fatal. Motor mayhem and stock car thrills. (LOCAL – KANSAS CITY) LA SALLE TAKES BASKETBALL CROWN.
