Description

The original release sheet reads: 1. "DETERMINE" WINS RICHEST DERBY PURSE - Turf history is made at Churchill Downs as "Determine" wins the richest Kentucky Derby in history. He's the smallest horse ever to win—and the only grey—but Determine runs a great race overtaking "Hasty Road" in the stretch for a thrilling finish. 2A/B/C/D. ARGENTINE ELECTIONS: BUENOS AIRES - Peronista candidate for Vice-President Alberto Teisare wins by a wide margin in nation-wide elections—a victory taken as a personal triumph by President Peron, who campaigned actively for Teisare. / MOTHER OF YEAR: COLUMBUS, GA - Named 1954's Mother of the Year is 65-year-old Mrs. Love Wheeler Tolbert, with five grown sons all successful in business and the professions. She now devotes her time to the county school library and to her flower garden. / FLYING YANKEES: CONNECTICUT - Governor John C. Lodge joins the flying Minute Men of the Air National Guard in defense maneuvers over the New England coast. Thunderjet fighters streak aloft in an impressive display of the "weekend warriors'" prowess. / ATOM VAULT: ZAYANTE, CA - A former railroad tunnel becomes a storage vault for precious property and records—the mountain above offering protection against even an atomic blast. 3. SCHOOL FOR HATS: CHICAGO - The "do-it-yourself" craze extends to hats. Hundreds wearing their own creations compete in the Park Department's hat parade. It's graduation day for student milliners—and they pass with flying colors. 4. YOUNG MEN ON FLYING TRAPEZES: WEST BERLIN - Three talented young trapeze artists, aged 8, 9, and 11, learn the aerialists art in the living room of their West Berlin apartment. Crowded surrounding don't bother them a bit as they go through paces under the tutelage of one-time circus-great Cimarro—a refugee from the Soviet zone. (LOCAL – WASHINGTON D.C.) APPLE QUEEN CROWNED.
