Description

The original release sheet reads: 1A/B. GERMANY IN NATO / Rebuilt Nation to Provide Half-Million Man Army: PARIS - The culmination of six years of delicate diplomatic maneuvering, as Chancellor Adenauer of West Germany joins U.S. Secretary Dulles, Britain's Foreign Secretary Harold MacMillan, and France's Foreign Minister Antoine Pinay at the NATO Council table. Taking its place as a full member of the 18 nation Western defense organization, Germany will provide an army of half a million men. / BERLIN - West Berlin typifies the industry and endeavor that rebuilt a war-shattered nation. Vast construction projects rise over streets cleared of rubble–the emergence of a new city. An old, distasteful landmark departs from the American Zone. The Red Army War Memorial, long screened off against vandalism, is removed by Russia, at U.S. request. 2. PRESIDENT AGREES TO BIG FOUR CONFERENCE: WASHINGTON, D.C. - Highlighting a White House Press Conference, President Eisenhower explains the factors underlying the U.S. decision to consent to an exploratory conference of the Big Four nations "at the summit," to attack the source of world tension. 3. HIGH FASHION IN COSTUME JEWELRY: NEW YORK - Tulip time, and a high fashion show in a country club garden. Emphasis is on gold-filled costume jewelry, glitter and glamor against a foil of flowers, in a setting of springtime. 4. GIRL CHUTIST SETS FREE FALL RECORD: FRANCE - Plummeting sixteen thousand feet in free fall before opening her parachute, Mademoiselle Colette Duval sets a new record. An exciting spectacle–onlookers gasp as her falling figure nears the ground–but the lovely daredevil alights safely and smiling.
