SUBWAYS - Raging for 48 hours, New York's worst fire in thirty-four years razes Wanamaker's Department Store building, a 94-year landmark. 150 out of 600 firemen were felled while fighting the blaze, which took millions of gallons of water–a torrent which washed out a subway station, crippling service on the city's East Side for at least two weeks. 3A/B.
