Description

The original release sheet reads: 1. "IKE" GREETS KING SAUD: WASHINGTON - Following his arrival in New York, where he addressed the General Assembly of the United Nations. King Saud of Saudi Arabia flies to Washington for meetings with Pres. Eisenhower. "Ike" breaks precedent to greet his royal visitor at the airport. 2. FLOODS SWEEP FOUR STATES - At least twelve are dead in the wake of disastrous winter floods sweeping four states-Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. Scenes of heart-break and terror as the swirling waters sweep across the lowlands and valley towns. 3A/B/C. SNOW IN SUNNY CLIMES - California and Spain taste unusual weather. Los Angeles orange groves are blanketed with snow, and kids learn a novel art–making snowmen. In Spain, rural areas are isolated for days as half the nation digs out from record snows. / TANKER BLAST KILLS 9: ALAMEDA, CA - Nine die and 50 are badly burned in a below-decks explosion that rips a dry-docked oil tanker. A hole is cut through the side of the vessel so rescuers can remove the dead and injured from the wrecked engine room. / FRENCH FRIENDSHIP MAIL: NEW YORK - A French postman personally delivers 500,000 post cards, responses to French listeners who heard an American business executive talk about Franco-American relations over Radio Europe. The businessman greets him. 4. MARCH OF DIMES FASHIONS: NEW YORK - Stars of stage and screen, plus well-known figures on the national scene, combine talents to stage a gala "Festival Of Spring Fashions." Gorgeous gowns and lovely manikins, with the Polio Poster Girl stealing the limelight. 5. BASKETBALL SEATTLE U. TOPS "BAKERS": SEATTLE - It's a natural for thrills when the Seattle University "Chiefs" meet the Buchan "Bakers," AAU champs. The fans see a big upset as the "Chiefs" lead all the way to topple the amateur champs by a score of 76-73.
