Description

The original release sheet reads: 1. INAUGURATION: WASHINGTON, D.C. - Before an estimated crowd of 750,000, President Eisenhower is sworn in for his second term. Auspiciously the sun breaks through as the President and Vice-President are sworn in by Chief Justice Warren. A parade lasting three hours winds through the streets of the capital following the ceremony. 2. ROUND THE WORLD H-BOMBERS: CALIFORNIA - Historic milestone in aviation! Three B-52 jet bombers take off and fly nonstop around the world, refueling in flight during the 45 hours flight, pointing up the long reach of our Strategic Bomber Command. Wives and families of the tired but happy crew members greet them on the completion of their epochal mission. 3A/B. ATOM POWER PLANT: CALIFORNIA - A ten million dollars reactor nears completion–the first of its kind on the west coast. The plant, which will deliver 5,000 kilowatts is expected to be in operation within a year. / POWDER BLAST KILLS 6: OLYMPIA, WA - An estimated 3,000 lbs. of dynamite blows up killing 6 workers and injures a score. It leaves a wide area of devastation and wrecked buildings. 4A/B. THE WORLD OF SPORTS — BOAT SHOW - New York's biggest boat show ever draws huge crowds to look (and get their orders in) at 1957's line of snappy outboards and luxurious cabin cruisers. Pretty girls make a nautical scene even more dazzling. / SKI JUMPING: FOX RIVER GROVE, IL - Jack Frost plays his "aces" in a thrilling meet at the Norge Ski Club, with top jumpers risking their necks for a large crowd. A breath taking leap of 172 feet wins the event.
