Description

The original release sheet reads: 1. IKE IMPROVING: WASHINGTON, D.C. - President Eisenhower attends church just four days after suffering a mild stroke. Accompanied by the First Lady, Ike appears in good health and spirits. A prayer for his complete recovery is offered during the service. 2A/B/C/D. KOREAN WAIFS ARRIVE: SEATTLE - Ushering in the holiday season, 80 Korean orphans arrive by air, under the sponsorship of Harry Holt, who has played godfather to hundreds of others. / TOY TRAINS: NEW YORK CITY - Another sign of the season is open house by Lionel, where scores of small boys gaze pop-eyed at the elaborate system which does everything but take 'em aboard as passengers. / HEMISPHERE SOLIDARITY: NEW ORLEANS - An heroic sized statue of Simon Bolivar is presented by Venezuela to the South American gateway city, a symbol of cultural and trade ties with our Good Neighbors. / HONORABLE DISCHARGE: GERMANY - Pvt. Teddy, the bear mascot of the 6th Infantry, a gift of the city of Berlin, leaves for the Washington Zoo. He outgrew the regiment, which sorrowfully sees him off with full military honors. 3A/B/C. SPORTS — SPEEDBOAT RECORD: SEATTLE - Streaking across Lake Washington, Hawaii Kai III chalks up a new hydroplane record at 183 m.p.h. over a measured mile, something to shoot at. / ARMY-NAVY CLASSIC: PHILADELPHIA - The game of games sees favored Navy hang a 14-0 beating on the fighting Cadets. Oldham of Navy has a field day, scoring two touchdowns, one a 44-yard run back, and kicks both points. / NOTRE DAME WINS: SOUTH BEND - Notre Dame puts a convincing clincher on the season by smothering Southern California 40-12 in dazzling running attack, giving a sample of things to come next year.
