World Mourns Pope (Universal Newsreel, Oct 1958)
Description
The original release sheet reads: 1. WORLD MOURNS POPE - As the world mourns the passing of Pius XII, the camera recalls highlights of the Pontiff's reign, and of his earlier career as Eugenio Cardinal Pacelli, travelling throughout the world, as Vatican Secretary of State. Scenes show the splendor of the Papal Coronation, the Pope greeting U.S.G.I.'s during the war, and receiving pilgrims. 2. WEATHER STUDY SPANS 93 MILLION MILES - On Sacramento Peak, New Mexico, an Air Force observatory studies the vast storms on the surface of the sun to learn their effect on our weather, with the aid of equipment that can produce artificial "eclipses" to order for scientists. 3. SPORTS — NEW YORK WINS SERIES! - In the seventh game of the World Series, the Yankees erupt in the eighth inning. With the score 2-2, and two out, Berra doubles, and scores on Howard's single. Carey follows with another single, and Moose Skowron raps a home run over the left field fence to put the Yankees ahead 6-2.
