Description

The original release sheet reads: 1. ZERO GRAVITY TEST FLIGHT - We see spaceman training in Ohio. Accompanying them is a civilian reporter who experiences zero gravity during the flight. Floating in mid-air with the ease of a breeze (??) suspending his body with strength of a single finger. Hand-stand style. All this and even harder to comprehend accomplishments from the Space Administration. 2A/B/C. OSCAR HONORS - Academy Awards Night in Hollywood. The film capital is aglow with scintillating stars–the elite of filmdom hails new royalty of the movie world at the Thirty-First Motion Picture Academy Awards. "Gigi," French musical claimed nine Oscars. / ARCTIC-HAUNTING NUCLEAR POWERED SUBMARINE "SKATE" RETURNS HOME - After her second historic transpolar voyage. This one in the dead of Arctic winter. The “Skate’s” Captain, Commander Joames F. Calvert, 36-years-old, and members of the crew receive awards at New London, Conn. / FASHION PIRACY - Films from Germany uncover fashion pirates at work. They employ every trick of the trade to copy exclusive new designs, Results are admirable. The method, well, that's something else again. 3. NOSTALGIC NEWS / TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO TODAY - Themes. Scenes. Schemes. They don't change much over the years. Here we see Teachers in Chicago protesting pay injustice. 5,000 instructors are joined by sympathetic students and parents in a march thru the Loop in angry demonstration. Strikes spread across the nation. Jolting the economy. Violence and hardship abound. Presidential intervention brings about settlement of the auto industry strike. F.D.R. sails away on Vincent Astor's yacht for a brief fishing holiday. New cars rolled off the assembly lines . . . Shiny, 1934 models. In France, tests of a newly devised non-skid tire tread are interrupted when another car, with old-fashion tires, skid-prone, skids in the rain–killing a woman pedestrian in this camera close-up.
