President Eisenhower Meets Big Four Ministers (Universal Newsreel, May 1959)

Description

The original release sheet reads: 1. PRESIDENT EISENHOWER MEETS BIG FOUR MINISTERS - Following funeral services of John Foster Dulles, the President meets with the Big Four Foreign Ministers, and urges that upon resumption of the recessed Geneva conference, the strongest efforts be made for sufficient progress to warrant a Summit meeting. 2A/B/C. BERLIN ON ULTIMATUM DATE - Scenes of West Berlin on the deadline date set 6 months ago by Soviet Premier Khrushchev for Allied forces to get out of Berlin show the ultimatum period passed without crisis. Business is as usual in the Free City, except that flags everywhere are at half mast in tribute to Mr. Dulles. / RESCUE HOSTAGES OF MAD KILLER - On-the-scene films as Dallas, Texas police lay down a tear-gas barrage to rescue four hostages of a crazed killer. Scenes show the escape of hostages and the climax of a 2-hour gun battle as police close in to find the killer’s riddled body. / QUEEN OF ENGLAND AT CHELSEA FOWER SHOW - In flower-loving Britain, a perennial favorite is the Annual Flower Show of the Royal Hospital in Chelsea, London. The almost traditional visit of the Royal Family is marked by the presentation to the Queen of a new and un-named rose. 3. JOHN FOSTER DULLES GETS HERO’S FARWELL - In Washington, John Foster Dulles goes to his final rest with the highest honors in the power of the nation to bestow, and with the tributes of the world. Dignitaries from abroad include many of the world’s leading Statesmen including Adenauer and Gromyko. After services in Washing National Cathedral, Mr. Dulles is buried in Arlington National Cemetery among many great figures in the nation’s history. A hero’s farewell to a valiant champion of peace and freedom.
