Description
The original release sheet reads: VIVA IKE The Latin-American swing of Ike's historic global peace odyssey yields further amazing personal triumphs. In Rio de Janeiro, President Eisenhower receives the greatest reception accorded any visiting public figure from over 750,000 surging, confettitossing Cariocans. In Buenos Aires, he's hailed by over a million, and his address to Congress is a high point of a sensational visit that is fulfilled with the warmest Argentine-U.S. relationship since the turn of the Century. MEG TO WED As congratulations and good wishes pour in from all over the world following the surprise announcement of Princess Margaret's engagement to court photographer Antony Armstrong-Jones, the happy couple spends a secluded week-end at the royal lodge with Queen Mother Elizabeth. DRAMA AND THRILLS MARK WINTER OLYMPICS' FINALE At Squaw Valley, the VIII Winter Olympics end with a blaze of drama and excitement. East German skier Helmut Recknagle wins the 80 meter ski jump, and the U.S. hockey sextet scores a stirring come-back to defeat Czechoslovakia and win America's first hockey gold medal in the history of the winter games. The moving ceremonies of extinguishing the Olympic flame and lowering the flag follow, bringing to a dramatic conclusion the greatest winter sports festival in American history.
