Description

The original release sheet reads: SPACE BEACON SATELLITE At Cape Canaveral, a Thor-Able-Star rocket places the "Transit" satellite in orbit - an experimental space "lighthouse" whose radio beacon will make possible new and enormously improved navigational systems for airmen and mariners throughout the world. PRINCE HIRO AT HOME In Tokyo, intimate family scenes of the infant Prince Hiro with his parents PRince Akihito and Princess Michiko, despite the grandeur of imperial palace setting and the nobility of his descent, looking and acting like any adorable, weeks-old tot. AMPHIBIOUS CAR SHOW On Long Island, New York, a new amphibious sports car is shown. The amazing import can scoot along the open road, dart through traffic, or plunge off a ramp into deep water and cruise along at a brisk clip, navigating in fine style. This could make bridges out of style. MINI-MIDSHIPMEN BOXING At Annapolis, the peanut brigade turns out for fisticuffs. Pee-wee pugilists from Navy families face off in the squared circle, slinging gloves almost as big as they are themselves, in helter-skelter hi-jinks. TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO In Italy, leaders of Britain, France and Italy confer on German rearmament in violation of the Versailles Treaty. American college students across the country join in tumultuous pacifist demonstrations. President Roosevelt returns from a two week fishing trip to face the problems of the nation. Old political foes Herbert Hoover and Al Smith join in a plea for aid to the Salvation Army. Notables of the nation lead the high-style Easter Parade up New York's Fifth Avenue. Amelia Earhart completes a 1700-mile flight from Burbank, California to Mexico City. Aviatrix Bernadine King, flying less than a year, sets a new record, for upside-down flight!
