The original release sheet reads: KENNEDY'S STATE OF THE UNION MESSAGE In his first State of the Union message, President Kennedy warns a joint session of Congress of times of trial and of peril ahead for the nation, pointing to an economy "in trouble" and grave perils abroad. "SANTA MARIA" NEARS PORT RENDEZVOUS The hijacked Portuguese cruise ship "Santa Maria", taken over by an armed band of rebels against the regime of Premier Salazar, nears port in Brazil after negotiations with the U.S. Navy and the Brazilian government, to free some 600 passengers held as hostages. QUEEN SEES INDIA'S GALA REPUBLIC DAY Queen Elizabeth's tour of independent India coincides with the nation's 11th anniversary of freedom, and a mammoth parade in celebration of Independence Day, with Her Majesty gues of honor at the gala procession, which boasts everything from elephants to native pipers .
