SEATO Takes Stand for Freedom (Universal Newsreel, Mar 1961)

Description

The original release sheet reads: SEATO TAKES STAND FOR FREEDOM At the Bangkok, Thailand, meeting of Foreign Ministers of the South-East Asia Treaty Organization, with the Laotian crisis at a peak, U.S. Secretary of State Dean Rusk pointedly reaffirms America's policy of freedom from foreign interference for the nations of the strategic area. DOUBLING UP FOR "THE GREAT IMPOSTER" In New York, a glittering but confusing party by friends of Tony Curtis follows a premiere of U-I's new film "THE GREAT IMPOSTER", in which Tony stars. A host of Broadway and Hollywood stars mingle with look-alikes for as many more stellar figures, to the bewilderment of all. MODERN ART ON THE MOVE In Holland, a display of way-out modern "machine sculptures" which are always on the move, and sometimes in a dozen different directions at once. One of the successes of the show is a busily oscillating doohickey that simultaneously turns out yard and yard of abstract paintings, too! SWIMMING PIG "Missey", the swimming pig makes her bid for fame at the San Marcos, Texas, Aquarena. Every farm boy knows pigs can't swim, but "Missey's" pigheadedness licked that problem. Now that she's a star, the ham in her really takes over. FINE FEATHERS FOR THE MALE Continental fashions for men are shown in a colorful summer collection, which features plenty of fancy trim, strikingly tailored trousers which boast either slits but no cuffs or flashy cowboy cuffs, and dazzling white vests. NAVY TOTS BOXING The annual turn-out of pee-wee pugilists at Annapolis, with scions of the Navy turning in some rousing scraps in the paperweight division. Some of 'em can barely lift the big gloves, but they manage to get in there and fight .
