Description
The original release sheet reads: ACCLAIM FOR KENNEDY ON PEACE TRIP President Kennedy makes his debut on the international scene as he arrives in Paris and is greeted by President Charles De Gaulle. His talks with the French President precede those with Soviet Premier Khrushchev in Vienna. The two leaders of the two great Western powers come to a quick agreement - a full defense of Berlin against Communist encroachment. TRUJILLO KILLED; ARMY IN POWER A bloody dictatorship of 31 years comes to an end as assassins' bullets end the regime of Rafael Trujillo, strong man of the Dominican Republic. He lived by the gun during his terror-ridden rule and he died by the gun. SPORTS 500-MILE RACE WON BY FOYT IN RECORD TIME A crowd of 200,000 sees 33 starters get away in the Golden Anniversary running of the Indianapolis Speedway classic. A five-car pile-up slows the race after the first hour, but no one is injured. A.J. Foyt of Houston, Texas, wins the richest race ever run on the brick and asphalt track. 250,000 SEE OUTSIDER "PSIDIUM" WIN EPSOM DERBY The Queen Mother and Queen Elizabeth head the crowd at Epsom Downs for the 182nd running of the Epsom Derby. It's a nip and tuck race all the way to the wire when a 99 to 1 outsider, PSIDIUM, comes from nowhere to pass the tiring leaders and chalk up a thrilling win.
