Ike Meets Kennedy, Bids Farewell to Press (Universal Newsreel, Jan 1961)
Description
The original release sheet reads: IKE MEETS KENNEDY, BIDS FAREWELL TO PRESS In Washington, President Eisenhower and his succesor John F. Kennedy confer in the White House with key members of their respective cabinets. Earlier, Ike holds his farewell press conference, bidding goodbye to members of the press corps who've covered the White House beat during his administration. ELEPHANT ROUNDUP In the Indian province of Mysore, it's round-up time, with dozens of villagers and tame elephants in a days-long tussle with wild tuskers, driving the untamed pachyderms into man-made compounds where they'll be broken into service. SPARTACUS PREMIERE IN CAPITAL In the nation's capital, dozens of V.I.P.'s, including U.S. Senators and Ambassadors from 30 nations attend the Washington premiere of U-I's 12 million dollar screen epic, "Spartacus". GOLDEN GLOVES In New York City, the first round of eliminations of the Golden Gloves, and three fast-paced bouts in which every decision is reached within a minute of the first round. Blazing action in the squared circle, as amateurs prove they can sling leather with the best.
