Description
The original release sheet reads: TRIUMPHAL TOUR: KENNEDYS WIN MEXICAN ACCLAIM The President's visit to Mexico is marked by the most tumultuous reception ever accorded Mr. Kennedy. It's a big, warm, noisy ovation - packed with emotion - such as has never occurred before in this capital of Latin-American exuberance. Millions cheer him at every turn and he closets himself with Mexican officials to come to agreement on problems besetting the two nations. ALGERIANS VOTE FOR INDEPENDENCE By a vote of 99.6% in favor, the Algerian people vote to end 132 years of French rule. This ends the seven-and-a-half year war of rebellion, but already rifts are developing among leaders of the new government. CHURCHILL MAKING QUICK RECOVERY The war-time Statesman, Sir Winston Churchill, is making rapid progress after surgeons place a pin in his broken thigh. On his return to London from Monte Carlo, the scene of his accident, he's cheerful and joking - with his "V" for Victory sign. SPORTS U.S.A. POLES MEET ON TRACK A new world's discus-throw record is the highlight of a meet between United States and Polish track and field stars. Al Oerter throws the plate 204 feet, ten and a half inches as the U.S. men down their rivals while the Polish women beat our U.S. lovelies.
