Description
The original release sheet reads: A DAY IN HISTORY: TELSTAR BRINGS WORLD CLOSER From a ground station nestled in the mountains at Andover, Maine, a signal is spent to a speeding Satellite - an historic feat that could reshape man's future. That Satellite, of course, is Telstar and it broadcasts a signal from space after amplifying it 10,000,000,000 times and thus the first pictures are transmitted to Europe - an historic step comparable to the first message sent over the telegraph wire. SPORTS ALL-STAR GAME: BASEBALL CLASSIC GOES TO NATIONAL LEAGUE- 3-1 Washington's $24,000,000 Stadium is jammed to capacity and among the crowd of 46,000 is President Kennedy. They all see the National League ALL-STARS take the measure of the American League. Stan (The Man!) Musical pinch-hits a single that means the first run, Maury Wills runs wild on the bases and Willy Mays makes some spectacular catches: It all adds up to a National 3-1 Win.
