Famous Five-Fine! (Universal Newsreel, Sep 1963)
Description
The original release sheet reads: FAMOUS FIVE-FINE! The most famous town in South Dakota is Aberdeen. It has a population of 25,005. The Fischer quintuplets are doing fine as they pass the critical 72-hour period. Now they are being fed a teaspoonful of milk every two hours oblivious, naturally, to all the commotion they have caused throughout the world. The chances are 1 in 54,000,000 that a birth will be five-fold and Mr. and Mrs. Fischer are still dazed from the event, it appears. Gifts have poured in and with a new house and magazine contract the future of the Fischer family seems assured. UN ASSEMBLY OPENS The 18th session of the United Nations General Assembly opens on a note of optimism as representatives of 111 member nations meet to elect a new president for the coming year. The optimism is based on the nuclear test ban treaty and Dr. Carlos Sosa Rodriquez of Venezuela receives all of the votes cast and takes over as assembly president. END OF AN ERA The Polo Grounds playing field of hallowed memory, is about to give way to a housing development. Thus will end one of the most famous chapters in baseball history. The mets play their last game here (yes, they lost to the phillies 5 to 1) before moving to a spanking new stadium next year. Now, except for a few football games this fall, crowds will no longer pour into the Polo Grounds. Casey Stengel, with his wife waves farewell to the stadium. Only thing in baseball that goes on forever is old Marse Casey himself.
