Description

The original release sheet reads: THE VIET NAM REVOLT The regime of South Viet Nam's President Ngo Dinh Diem comes to an end in a wave of violence. Pictures made a few days before the revolt are the last ones made of a man who seemed to have no premonition of the horrible death he was to meet. Units of the Seventh Vietnamese Army slipped into Saigon quietly and within 18 hours they succeeded in setting up a regime headed by Diem's former vice-president. The leader of the revolt, General Duong Van Minh, called for the Vietnamese to turn to the business at hand-the defeat of the Viet Cong communists. THEATRE OWNERS HONOR TWO UNIVERSAL STARS At the Theatre Owners of America convention in New York City, Cary Grant is awarded a trophy as "Star of the Year." Milton Rackmil, President of Universal Pictures is on hand and also sees another of his movie players, Angie Dickinson, awarded the title of "Most Exciting New Star." Both will be seen in forthcoming features: Cary Grant in "CHARADE" and Miss Dickinson in "CAPTAIN NEWMAN, M.D." SPORTS FOOTBALL WASHINGTON UPSETS U.S.C.-22 to 7: Starting with a blocked punt that they grab for a touchdown, Washington's Huskies go on to down favored Southern California, 22 to 7. Bill Douglas stars at quarterback for Washington which can already sniff those blossoms in the Rose Bowl. ARMY SHOOTS DOWN AIR FORCE: 14 to 10: The Air Force Academy take on West Point in Chicago and almost pulls off an upset in the final quarter. They go in front with only six minutes to play. However, Army bounces back with only 80 seconds to play. On fourth down Kenny Waldrop bulls over and army snatches victory from defeat, 14 to 10.
