Floods Ravage Northwest (Universal Newsreel, Dec 1964)
Description
The original release sheet reads: FLOODS RAVAGE NORTHWEST The worst floods to hit the Pacific Northwest in man's memory sweep across five states, causing a billion dollars worth of property damage and making tens of thousands homeless. From Portland and other Oregon towns to Idaho, Washington, Nevada and Northern California, it was a series of disasters as rivers by the score overflowed their banks. Heavy snows, followed by swiftly rising temperatures sent torrents down from the mountains. Then rain followed. The swollen rivers could not contain the great flood. TERRORISTS STRIKE IN SAIGON Terrorist attacks agains United States troops in Vietnam reach full fury in Saigon as a bomb exploded at an officers' headquarters. Two Americans are killed and 98 persons hospitalized among them 63 Americans. Now, with tighter security restrictions, authorities hope to bring such attacks to an end. SPORTS FOOTBALL SITTING ON TOP OF THE WORLD The Baltimore Colts came galloping into Cleveland expecting to romp right home again with the Pro Football title. The Browns had different ideas! Sparked by Frank Ryan who threw three touchdown passes to Gary Collins----and the running of Jim Brown, the Cleveland team clobbers the favored Colts. 27 to 0. To the hometown fans that's "doing it up Brown"....Cleveland Browns, that is.
