Description

The original release sheet reads: HEROIC ATLANTIC RESCUE Daring rescuers save crewmen from the storm-wracked British freighter "Ambassador''. Helpless in mountainous North Atlantic seas, the merchantmen's plight sets off a grim drama of men against winds which reach gale force and waves rising 25 to 40 feet. UNITED STATES ANSWERS CASTRO Rear Admiral John D. Bulkeley, Commandant of the Guantanamo Naval Base, has an emphatic answer to Castro's charges that the U.S. is stealing water from Cuban sources. With informal ceremonies, the World War II P-T Boat hero has the two water lines into the base cut - - declaring he did it because: "Castro is calling me a liar". RUBY MURDER TRIAL The defense in the Jack Ruby murder trial pulls a maneuver designed to disqualify most Texas jurors. They subpoena a juror as a witness - saying that anyone who saw Ruby allegedly murder Lee Harvey Oswald on Television witnessed the deed and they would challenge all of them. To a roar of protest from the defense the judge overrules the stratagem of the defense and selecting the jury continues. SPORTS ITALIAN SETS SKI-FLYING MARK Nilo Zandanel of Italy breaks the ski-flying record at Oberstdorf, Germany, with a tremendous leap of 472 feet, 6 inches. Ski-flying differs from ski-jumping in that 'form' doesn't count ... only distance. Zandanel makes his record leap in a trial jump and is forced to settle for third place in the meet's final standing.
