D-Day Remembered (Universal Newsreel, Jun 1964)
Description
The original release sheet reads: D-DAY REMEMBERED Twenty Years Ago the mightiest armada in history landed the forces of freedom on the Beaches of Normandy the shores of France that are quiet and peaceful today. This is Normandy in a vivid document of the day Twenty Years Ago that changed the destiny of mankind. The roar of those guns now are replaced with the laughter of children. FILIBUSTER ENDS ON CIVIL RIGHTS BILL It's a Day of Decision on Capitol Hill as the U.S. Senate clears the way for the Civil Rights Bill by voting to limit debate on the measure. Democratic whip Hubert Humphrey leads the fight for the Bill, while Senator Richard Russell of Georgia gives his views in opposition. BEATLES IN DUTCH Beatlemania has ceased to be a phenomena and seems to have become away of life. When the Quartet with hair like unmade beds land in The Netherlands it's the same old story - people who value their sanity head for cover and let the teen-agers take over.
