Description

The original release sheet reads: POLITICAL SPOTLIGHT The New York State Republicans nominate incumbent Senator Kenneth Keating for the U.S. Senate in a race that will see him opposing Attorney-General Robert F. Kennedy. Mr. Kennedy took up residence in New York to make the race and there have been cries of "carpet-bagger" from the Republicans. It's a local race that's in the national spotlight. SERGEANT ALVIN YORK DEAD A man who became a legend in his own lifetime is dead. Sergeant Alvin Cullum York wiped out a German machine gun battalion in World War I, winning the Congressional Medal of Honor and 50 other decorations. He refused to capitalize on his heroism and lived and worked among his Tennessee hill people. He said: "this uniform ain't for sale". FEMME FASHIONS----BLOUSES TO ACCENT YOUR COSTUME A group of American girls in Rome do as the tourists do---go to see the sights and be seen. They are decked out in blouses that are loaded with glamour. Ship 'n shore fashions that keep you in the swim. SPORTS WORLD MARK TIED IN HAMBLETONIAN The 39th renewal of the Hambletonian---harness racing's classic--sees a world mark equalled and the race record broken by a tiny bay with blistering speed.
