Description

The original release sheet reads: POPE IN INDIA: PONTIFF HAILED ON HISTORIC VISIT The teeming millions of India flock to Bombay to greet the "Burra Guru"-the great, holy man-as Pope Paul VI arrives for the International Eucharistic Congress. No other pope has ever visited this area of the world, and no other pope has ever made a trip of such length. He is greeted by Prime Minister Shastri and other high dignitaries and he donates $50,000 to India's poor before presiding at the elevation of six bishops. His return to Rome is equally a triumph. WINTER HAS NATION IN AN ICY GRIP That perennial artist, Jack Frost, hadn't been heard of around Niagra Falls and the East Coast for some time---but he blew into town to stage one of his more spectacular one-man shows. From Maine to Carolina they know that Indain Summer is over. These are days of sneezes ands sniffles, anti freeze and fuel bills. Enjoy yourself! VIETNAM HERO RECEIVES MEDAL OF HONOR At the White House the nation's highest decoration for gallantry is conferred by President Johnson on Captain Roger Donlon, the first military hero of the hostilities in South Vietnam. Captain Donlon was on six months' temporary duty at Nam Dong when, despite four wounds, he rallied his men to throw back a concerted red attack. LEST WE FORGET: PEARL HARBOR DEAD ARE REMEMBERED There are simple and impressive ceremonies at Pearl Harbor to mark the 23rd anniversary of the "Day of Infamy". The battleship "Arizona" is the tomb of 1,102 men and the flag is raised over the monument, for the "Arizona" still remains in commission as a United States Navy vessel.
