The Gemini Saga (Universal Newsreel, Dec 1965)

Description

The original release sheet reads: THE GEMINI SAGA The strange and wonderful story of GEMINI SIX and GEMINI SEVEN - and their rendezvous in Space. While GEMINI SEVEN circles the earth, Major Thomas Stafford and Command Pilot Walter Schirra make two attempts to keep a date in Space. Their first attempt at blast-off is scrubbed when a malfunctioning plug drops out and shuts down the engines. They sit tight in their Space craft and party for the best. Their courage is rewarded as GEMINI SIX rides out the risis undamaged. Then, three days later, comes one of the most beautiful take-offs in the Cape's fifteen year history as GEMINI SIX rises to the heavens and the historic meeting. Complicated maneuvering brings the two capsules together and they chase each other around the glove for four hours. This is the rendezvous so essential to a manned shot to the Moon. Twenty-six hours after take-off, GEMINI SIX is returned to earth and lands within 12 miles of the Carrier Wasp.....the closest landing to a recovery ship ever made. A new Page in UNITED STATES Space history???...By the Big Horn Spoon , it was an entire, GLORIOUS CHAPTER!!!
