Berlin Wall Open Again (Universal Newsreel, Dec 1965)
Description
The original release sheet reads: BERLIN WALL OPEN AGAIN Residents of West Berlin wait through a long and wet night for the hated Wall of Shame to be opened to East Berlin. Only during the Holiday Season do Communist Authorities allow unrestricted border crossings - The only chance many have to see imprisoned relatives. FLOODS HIT EUROPE Europe has been plagued with storms through most of Autumn and now floods have compounded the misery. In England and Holland they are hit by the worst inundations since 1953. In the Netherlands many Dikes have been breached. ROOFTOP HELIPORT Like every large city, New York faces the frustrating problem of getting airplane passengers through heavy traffic outlying airports. Now the problem is being partially solved with the opening of a helicopter landing pad atop a mid-town skyscraper. Now jet passengers can be whisked to Kennedy, LaGuardia or Newark in 7 minutes - it's an hour or an hour-and-half crawl by automobile. NORTH AND SOUTH - IT'S FUN TIME You don't see the sport everywhere, but in the North-east they jump at the chance to take part in Barrel-jumping contests. The winter clears sixteen barrels and comes down for a three-point landing. Far to the South there's ore jumping - this time by porpoises. They put on a show at Marineland, Florida, that has everyone enthralled. You're not safe at home until you've seen porpoises play baseball.
