The original release sheet reads: ASIAN NATIONS WELCOME LBJ President Johnson's whirlwind six-nation, 17-day tour takes him to Wellington, New Zealand, for receptions, sheep-shearing, and barbecues. Tumultuous welcomes greet him in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. He's greeted by Philippine President Marcos in Manila and the Summit takes on a note of hope...but cautiously. WELSH TRAGEDY Some 200 persons, mostly children, are killed in an avalanche of coal slag which buries part of the village of Aberfan, in South Wales. The local schoolhouse, a farm, and 16 miners' cottages were engulfed in the slide. All Wales is shocked. SPORTS FOOTBALL MIGHIGAN STATE TOPS PURDUE At Spartan Stadium, unbeaten Michigan State wins big over Purdue. Hawaiian fullback Bob Apisa scores three while Spartan quarterback Jim Raye's passing arm demolishes the Boilermaker's defense. Final score: Michigan State 41, Purdue 20.
