Description

The original release sheet reads: 1. ARMY OBSERVES 15th ANNIVERSARY OF U.S. ENTRY IN WORLD WAR: NEW YORK, NY - Reviewed by General John J. Pershing, 18,000 marchers fill famous Fifth Avenue with a riot of military color as the picturesque procession moves along the thoroughfare in observance of the day. Emphasizing the nation’s preparedness in contrast to our plight a decade and a half ago, crack units of the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps salute the one-time commander of the A.E.F. Flanked by a four-star general’s flag and the banner that was with him at Chaumont, America’s premier soldier is hailed by veterans who fought with him during the great conflict. 2. SHOTGUNS FLASH AS IRATE CITIZENS FIGHT RISE IN WATER RATES: MIDLOTHIAN, IL - Residents of the community, following the leadership of the town fathers, rebel against a 50 percent jump in the price scale and employ drastic methods to prevent the company from enforcing the revised schedule. Village Clerk Schallerer sets the pace by pitching a pup-tent over the shut-off valve to his home, claiming “squatter rights.” Firearms appear in all quarters, brandished by the incensed populace to stop the cutting off of the source of supply, as the volunteer fire department aids the populace by bringing them water from distant wells. NEWS PARAGRAPHS: 3. COVINGTON, KY - Car companies in anti-accident drive! — Conductors learn jobs of motormen in case of emergency. 4. SAN FRANCISCO, CA - Spring is here! — West Coast couple out to set new record for flag-pole DANCING. 5. NEW YORK, NY - Gotham police adopt startling new gas device! — Odd dingus expected to prevent suffocation fatalities. 6. CITY LAUNCHES GIANT PROJECT TO COMBAT GREED OF LANDLORDS: VIENNA, AUSTRIA - Protecting its people against profiteering, local officials solve the perplexing problem by sponsoring the world’s greatest housing development. Huge apartment buildings, complete communities in themselves, are erected to stamp out the evil and sound the doom of oppression in a municipal movement that attracts the attention of the world. The unique plan assures the poor of ample sunshine and good homes. Burgomaster Karl Seitz swings open the doors on the latest addition, containing 60,000 apartments, the most gigantic dwelling project in history. 7. SURVIVORS RE-ENACT EPIC BATTLE IN HONOR OF FALLEN COMRADES: MIAOHANGCHEN, CHINA - Depicting the heroism that inspired a heroic volunteer detachment to penetrate the murderous artillery and machine gun fire of strongly entrenched Chinese troops, the Ninth Division of the 24th Mixed Brigade portrays the bitter battle with all the vividness of reality. Protected by acres of closely entangled barbed wire the defenders had defied the invading forces and showered death from the impregnable position. A company of engineers loaded with dynamite charges rushed into the disputed area. They were blown to bits, but the blasts opened the way for their regiment to pour through and win their objective. The awesome drama is performed again as 10,000 soldiers participate in a memorial for the fallen heroes whose act turned certain defeat into victory. (LOCAL – CANADA) ANIMAL PARADE.
