Description
The original release sheet reads: 1. CAROL GREETS ROYAL VISITORS: SINAIA, RUMANIA - The eyes of Europe are turned to the significant visit of King Alexander of Jugoslavia and his Queen to this neighboring kingdom and the impressive scenes of pomp attending their arrival here. Crown Prince Michael joins his famous father for the welcoming ceremonies and then turns “boy” again, to demonstrate his prowess at coasting. 2. HUSKIES RACE IN 16-MI. DERBY: MT. HOOD, OR - The pick of the West’s dog-sled drivers, and their teams, battle to a nip-and-tuck finish in a strenuous speed classic amid a gorgeous mountain setting. Thula Geelan of McCall, ID, the country’s only professional “mush” racer and many times a winner, is nosed out near the goal by Roy Stover of Cascade and his strong team of setters. A large crowd, standing knee-deep in soft snow, is thrilled to noisy enthusiasm by the spirited contest. 3. TOWNS IN PANIC AS VESUVIUS ERUPTS: NAPLES, ITALY - Violent and almost continuous earth tremors shaking the entire country-side, and giant clouds of smoke pouring from the crater of the great volcano, accompanied by bursts of lava and steam, presage a paroxysmal outburst from the famous fire mountain. Thousands flee from the villages in the vicinity and troops are ordered to the scene to facilitate evacuation and rescue work. 4. CAPITAL PLANS FOR INAUGURAL: WASHINGTON, D.C. - Official circles are apprehensive as labor troubles slow up the construction of the stands and the sea of seats for the Inauguration. A replica of Federal Hall, where the First President took the oath of office, takes form to shelter Roosevelt during the elaborate parade. Impressive scenes of the first Wilson ceremonial, in 1913, show the wild enthusiasm of thousands at that eventful Democratic jubilee, expected to be far surpassed this March 4th. 5. NIPPON MAT CHAMP WINS AGAIN: TOKYO, JAPAN - Spectacular views of the national mid-winter bouts attended by a yelling mob of 10,000 enthusiastic “fans.” The semi-annual competition, East vs. West, brings out the country’s best heavyweights, versed in the ancient and curious art of “Sumo” wrestling. 6. RISK DEATH IN DARING RACE: LONG BEACH, CA - Unusually fast riding by expert speed aces features the motorcycle dirt-track contests at the local speedway. Sensational skidding and a number of breath-taking spills make the tournament a succession of thrills for the excited spectators. 7. BLIZZARD CRIPPLES CITY — 15 DEAD: CHICAGO, IL - Sub-zero weather and one of the worst snowstorms in mid-west history tie up automobile and pedestrian traffic, causing many casualties from exposure, forcing a cessation of all school activities and marooning thousands of motorists. A shrieking gale off Lake Michigan piles six-foot drifts in the streets and almost turns the metropolis into an arctic waste. Remarkable scenes of men and women battling the elements.
